This is the movie where the series took a turn for the worst

I like this movie, but this movie marks the beginning of the end of the series, IMO.

- the Leo Getz character was an annoying and unnecessary addition to this series.
- the whole Cosby show style humor doesn't belong in a series like this.
- Riggs was starting to lose his edge he had in the first film.
- having the South African guy being the killer of Riggs wife was a lame plot twist.

Still, this movie is decent entertainment, but to compare it to the classic original is laughable. Parts 3 and 4 are basically abominations.

- I really enjoyed Leo, especially at the end of IV when he opened his heart to Riggs at the cemetery, but I get how he can be annoying.
- It was a bit ridiculous in a few places, particularly at the embassy, but I really liked the scenes at Murtaugh's house and at the police station between the cops. It gave the movie heart, humor and depth.
- Of course Riggs was starting to lose his edge. The reason why he had it in the first place was because his wife was dead and he was alone in deep pain. By the end of the first movie, Riggs finds great support in his partner Murtaugh and his family. Naturally, this helps Riggs to become more stable as a person. This is demonstrated when he hands Rianne his suicide bullet to give to his partner.
- Perhaps, but at least they did it in a way that made sense. They had drug operations, Riggs worked to bust them, he was getting too close and his wife was killed in the process while he was working late on the job. Rika being indirectly killed because of him added an extra layer of pain and revenge to the movie.

I will admit they overused Leo in this series. And that's why I think it would've been best had they martyred him in this film, having Roger find him strangled to death like Danny DeVito and get the motivation to become a Lethal Weapon like when his daughter was threatened in the first film.

@LukeLovesFilm28 ...having Roger find him strangled to death like Danny DeVito...
Danny DeVito what? How he did he get into this?

Na, the first two were great, they started sucking with the third one.

There's a reason Pesci returns not only for 3, but for 4....he became a fan favorite and was hilarious comedy relief.

I personally found him hilarious, especially his "they ph.uc you in the drive-thru" rant! Can't count how many times I've been ph.uced at the drive thru (and not in that GOOD way either).

I really liked Pesci as Leo because he was so funny and the character had great comic chemistry with Riggs and Murtaugh.
