Ok, cast choices... I think for Ariel (mainly Broadway names so I'm sorry) Christy Altomare or Laura Osnes would be nice, or if you're willing to stretch, Anna Kendrick too (but that comes from my personal liking for Anna).
Excellent choices! I really don't want real teenagers for Ariel cause it's every 80's kid's dream and it would be heartbreaking to see younger girls take over!

Considering all of these (mostly trustable) sites have announced the news I think it's safe to assume it's indeed true.
It was also said that the film was to be theatrically released in 3D

The 3D theatrical release was planned then scrapped. We have no way of knowing there WILL be a live-action remake, we know they're working on it, and that's enough. If the live-action adaptation comes to be someday, then YOOOOO! If it doesn't then, well, too bad.
