kinda blows my mind a little that the guy who played Eric was only 16

Saw it in the trivia section and i was shocked

Wow that is surprising! He sounds like he has a much more mature voice, I would peg him for late teens/early 20s.

reply

The woman who played Ariel was in her early 20's

"I only wish I could make you cry like I do."

reply

Jodi Benson was in her late 20s.

reply

That's quite an age gap. LOL.

Well they did record their lines separately. So I guess his parents were ok with it.

reply

I think Scott Weigner from Aladdin was 15 or 16 too.

reply

I think the fact that he also played Greg Brady is more mind blowing. When I was watching TLM this afternoon, I was half-expecting him to say, "Well hi there, groovy chick!" XD

reply

He played Spiderman in the 90's cartoon

reply

LOL That was actually before he played Greg Brady in those early-mid 90s Brady Bunch movies. Although I do remember how back around the same time Little Mermaid debuted in theaters, Chris Barnes was on a sitcom where he played the teenage son of a middle-aged couple, who after having a later in life second child, decide to retire from their law careers to run a daycare center or something. (I think Thora Birch played his little sister? And a pre-Seinfeld Julia Louis Dryfuss and pre-Melrose Courtney Thorne Smith were also additional castmembers?)

Anyway, if I remember correctly, in one of the last episodes of the show (in maybe 1990?) Chris's character has a dream that he's 'Greg Brady', where Julia & Courtney's characters played a couple of Marcia's best friends, and Maureen McCormick appeared as a pregnant Marcia Brady, working her real life pregnancy into the storyline as well. 

Christopher Daniel Barnes (b. November 7, 1972) was 15 when he was cast as Eric in 1988, 16 when he recorded his performance, and had just turned 17 when the film was released on November 17, 1989.

Jodi Benson (b. October 10, 1961), on the other hand, was eleven years older: 26 when she was cast, 27 when she did the voice, and 28 when the film was released.

Wasn't that Eric's age in the movie though? It was Ariels very appropriate if you ask me

reply

No, Eric was supposed to be 18, I think.

reply

2 years wrong. So-rry!

reply

Just thought you'd like to know.

reply

Lol that's nothing, I read that the kid who played Thumper on Bambi was only about 5ish. Lol

reply

Such a handsome voice! A voice like his proves that age ain't nothing but a number, cause my oh my, how mature he sounded! 😍

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!
