Not of the Popular Opinion...

I kinda liked the "Jiji speaks again" ending. Its more fun that way, the whole movie itself is(clearly) a metaphor for growing up so why deprive the magic aspect of it?

Anyone know where I can find that version?

There is a used version of it selling on amazon for a hundred. I Should have gotten one back when they had cheaper but I kept passing it by. I got the newer one and I love it but I thought it be cool to get the other and compare, plus I fell in love with the first version, it was what made me want to get it on DVD to watch again. DVD should have came with both versions

Link to the site, just in case

^Same here. The first version is the one I initially saw a few times then some years later it aired on Di$ney channel and it was the updated one. I was disappointed when I was expecting Jiji/Phil Hartman's last lines and...nothing.

I saw both versions (the original Japanese version and the English edition), and I prefer the ending in the Japanese version, where Jiji is silent - the whole point of the film is to show Kiki growing up.

I agree.

Can't stop the signal.

What was his last line? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I UNDERSTAND the thematic material but if its all that then why have her be a witch at all?

For whimsy.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

reply

Because there is no magic growing up. Growing up is about losing the magic then spending your entire adult life trying to get it back but ultimately failing miserably.

reply

Or realizing that the world is far more wondrous without magic and with friends.

reply

not it is not. Friends can only numb the pain.

Then maybe you need to change your circumstances.
