Anyone notice

that the animator really enjoyed putting in upskirt shots of a 13-year-old girl?

It seemed like every chance there was, Kiki's dress flew up or we saw up it. I thought it was kind of odd O.o

OK so I went through that thread, it is full of people attacking the OP for having some type of fetish or being angered by it, but the OP only seemed a little put-off by it.

I, personally, was just wondering if anyone noticed. Someone mentioned the film Annie and which the dress flies up a few times, but that's completely different. That's something that happened during filming, wasn't looked at as sexual, and therefore wasn't deemed important to remove. But this film is animated. That means each time the dress flies up and the bloomers are shown, it was a conscious choice by the animator to include that. I mean, showing that's what happens when a young witch flies on her broom is one thing, but the volume in which it occurs almost seems to point to ulterior motives for including it. Every sequence of her flying on that brook includes at least one bloomer-shot, and that seemed odd to me.
I mean it's either perverted & sexual, or lazy, repetitive animation.

Er, no, I hadn't. And she does ride a broom.

If you want to see gratuitous panty shots in anime, then there are plenty of OTHER titles in the genre. Since this is a board for a kids' film, I won't mention any, but I'll add that I find it pretty disgusting that a good portion of the posts on this board deal with Kiki's underside.

What the hell is the matter with you people, anyway?

The Guardian reviewer was impressed that the film dealt with "sexuality". I couldn't think of what he meant, but maybe it was this?

She's a witch on a broom. I think they were being realistic and not afraid to show her underpants unlike some magical girl anime or shows like Winx Club where they wear the shortest of skirts and dresses, fall on their asses or bend over too much and never seem to flash anyone.

At least the people who worked on this were realistic. Your dress is going to fly up when you are flying and the wind is around you. What do you expect?
