The Dubs make more sense

It makes far more sense for people in Europe to be speaking ENGLISH than speaking JAPANESE. Fact.

Majority of Europeans don't speak English as their first language.

I think there are even fewer Europeans who speak Japanese as a first language.

So? The fact remains, watching a whole movie set in alternate reality Sweden where everyone speaks fluent English with a perfect accent doesn't feel that much stranger than having everyone speaking Japanese. It would be plausible if some spoke perfect English but it just feels weird if everyone does.

It's just a movie and everyone speaks Japanese in it because it's a Japanese movie based on a Japanese book.

English makes more sense. English comes from the same part of the world. Japanese is a hugely different language, from a hugely different culture and part of the world.

The OP didn't say that it makes more sense for Swedes to speak English than it does for them to speak Swedish. They said it makes less sense for them to speak Japanese than it does for them to speak English. Obviously, a Swede speaking Swedish would make the most sense out of all of those though.

Majority of Europeans do speak English as a second language, but don't know Japanese at all.

It was his last role, too... I like to think he went out on a high note. RIP, Phil.
