Can Anyone Please recommend any animes/cartoons like this??

firstly iam not really a anime/cartoon fan. I never really watched any anime's except for sailor moon because it was the only one i liked that was on TV on replay when i was a little kid

Anyway last night i felt like watching something animated/cartoon and this came up in a torrent site and i thought the storyline looked interesting so i decided to give it a go. **the english version since i don't understand japanese**

Anyway I LOVED IT. it is now my favorite cartoon/anime movie I've ever seen. i gave it 10/10 in IMDB rating. absolutely fabulous.

please can anybody recommend any anime's or cartoons that are like this. i don't like the action fighting ones since iam a female. iam not into the whole dragon slaying dragonball, digimon whatevr that are kinda anime where the majority or animes are like that.

LoL iam more wanting a sweet storyline like this.

I'd recommend My Neighbour Totoro, and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, which are some of the other gentler films by the same director. His films Castle In The Sky, Nausicaa, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are a bit more action oriented but just as brilliant.

Another Anime/manga I would recommend is Love Hina.

There is a series of animated cartoons I would HIGHLY recommend that's based on manga.

"Mushishi"

You'll probably have to watch it subtitled.

Otherwise Totoro and Up are excellent films.

My Neighbor Totoro is just like this but better.
Also Check out Whisper of the Heart, its by the same person and really beautiful

reply

Whisper Of The Heart isn't made by the same person, although he did write it. That film, however, is probably the closest to this one. I have to say I found Totoro to be near the bottom of the Ghibli Films so far.

if u find it get the grave of the fireflies, its a really sad story but absolutely marvellous!!!!

The girl who leapt through time.

I agree with some of the other posters here -- watch other movies by the same director.

I'll recommend some non-Miyazaki animated films:

The Illusionist (2010), by Sylvain Chomet. The animation was absolutely gorgeous, and the story also revolves in a beautiful city. The Triplets of Belleville is another movie by Chomet, also fantastic but a little crazy.

Anything by Satoshi Kon, but particularly Millennium Actress and Tokyo Cowboys.

PRINCESS ARETE. If you haven't heard of this movie, drop whatever you are doing and see it IMMEDIATELY. This is a completely unknown, underrated movie. It's available on Youtube with English subs. TRUST ME-- well worth your time.
