Who played the news columnist?

For all the characters listed in the credits who are never actually identified by name, there is one who doesn't seem to be listed at all. That would be the columnist who writes up the article about Jessica taking care of Prancer. When Michael Constantine (listed as Mr. Stewart- where did THAT name come from?) brings him the letter and picture, he addresses the man as Al. There's no one in the credits with that name. Even though Al is only on screen for a short time and has no lines the entire movie, his part is actually quite important. He also has a pretty distinct face. He looks a little like Peter Coyote, but obviously isn't. Anyone know who plays him?
