Just a year later, she would get her Oscar nomination for the film version. If only she'd won, she'd be one of a handful of people to win a Tony and later the Oscar for the same role.
-José Ferrer in Cyrano de Bergerac (Tony: 1947/Oscar: 1950)
-Shirley Booth in Come Back, Little Sheba (Tony: 1950/Oscar: 1953)
-Yul Brynner in The King and I (Tony: 1952/Oscar: 1956)
-Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady (Tony: 1957/Oscar: 1964)
-Anne Bancroft in The Miracle Worker (Tony: 1960/Oscar: 1962)
-Paul Scofield in A Man for All Seasons (Tony: 1962/Oscar: 1966)
-Jack Albertson in The Subject Was Roses (Tony: 1965/Oscar: 1968)
-Joel Grey in Cabaret (Tony: 1967/Oscar: 1973)
-Lila Kedrova did it the other way around. She won an Oscar for Zorba the Greek (1964), and 20 years later won a Tony for the same role in the musical version Zorba (1984).
