Did they digitally process the effects for the Blu-ray?

they look far better than I remember. the shot of the Enterprise against the moon is beautiful.

And it makes more of a difference than I would have expected to my overall reaction to the film.

I tink the blu-ray version was re-processed by the Okudas like Tas ....

Nope Paramount refuse to spend the money so its just the same old movie now in HD so it looks better than ever but the VFX looks worse due to how many flaws you can now clearly see in Hi-Def!

Everyone in a cinema in 1989 would have seen this film in Hi-Def. That's why we went to the cinema - to see films in Hi def.
