IMDB rating has gone up

Is Trek V finally starting to get some respect? It was sitting at a 5.2 and is now 5.3. I actually remember when it was at 4.9 some years ago. I'm happy its (slowly) going up. And I still believe a director's cut would improve the rating greatly, regardless of what some say. Before The Motion Picture's director's cut, it was stuck in the 5 range but now is over 6.

Why do people care so much about IMDb ratings? Every page has folks talking about the ratings. I don't get it. Do you feel that your enjoyment of a film hinges on what an un-moderated, biased website's poll has to say? I am not trying to be mean, but I really don't get the importance that so many place on stupid ratings from a site like this. Even if ratings mattered to me, IMDb is the last place I would concern myself over them.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

It doesn't affect my feelings for a film at all. But when the ratings go up, it means more people are warming up to the movie. I find that interesting, which is why I made a thread. Does that explain things well enough for you?

reply

I guess I just don't know why this is interesting. Like I said, every forum for every film has people on about the rating.
