What if Leonard Nimoy directed this instead of William Shatner?

Somebody recently said on Reddit that the subtle difference between Nimoy and Shatner as directors is that Nimoy directed like a photographer whereas Shatner directed like an actor.

He wouldve had a different script (maybe something to do with the klingons going after kirk as the main plot as that was a thread in IV). would've made sure ILM were attached (due to his experiance with them on III/IV). and it wouldve been undoubtedly a better movie/bigger box office (sorry Bill!)

Nimoy was a better director IMO, but I don't think the script was all that good.
