Bug is a horny teenage guy and in his private moments with Tia was too pushy, but how did Buck know this?

Buck seemed to instantly ‘know’ Bug was predatory, but how?

He wants to get into Tia’s pants, like most teenage guys, and she seems to want him in her pants... just maybe not going all the way. She’s 15 and it’s normal to get up to stuff without having sex.

Wouldn’t a word with Tia telling her stand firm if she doesn’t want to have sex with Bug have been more appropriate, than threatening and intimidating Bug as if he was some kind of serial rapist..? Buck’s reaction seemed really disproportionate.

Adding to the weirdness is that we never actually find out what he ‘did’ to Tia, she says ‘everything you said would happen happened’. What did Buck say would happen? Deleted scene??

Use your eyes more because your character judgment is way off and very different then the majority.

You will need good character judgement skills when you grow up
Choosing a spouse and the people you associate with are important.

Buck had great character judgement skills as we see he was 100% spot on in the end. Bug was a cheater and more.

Idiot. Of course Buck was ‘right’ because the script demands it, what the film failed to do was explain how Buck knew that Bug was predatory solely based on Tia kissing him, nor did it reveal what he ‘said would happen’

That’s plausible I guess, but it needed some explanation, or at least a scene where he spots Bug demeaning Tia to his dickhead friends and boasting about ‘I’m gonna lay that pipe at the party haha!’ or something.

I could see that working too.

Considering Buck was still making excuses with his girlfriend, he had an accurate (though not precise) idea Bug only really cared about himself, using Tia to impress his friends into thinking that he was a mature adult since he could attract women into having imtimate (but empty) relationships with him. Bug was a selfish user. Buck became a better man over the course of this film. While far from being without his faults or bad habits, he did mend his personal and family relationships. He had to take a look at himself when he became responsible for others.

I would assume that was her boyfriend and that everything was consensual - which it was. I would only turn aggressive if there was evidence that he was abusing her.

I would let his ‘tune-up’ quip slide, it’s a bit cheeky but doesn’t warrant Buck’s hostile response.

Buck is an uncle. If I saw a hypothetical teenage niece of mine kissing a boy I would not react as Buck did. I’d assume they were going out until I found evidence that he was in some way predatory.

I haven’t revealed either way whether or not I have children/nieces so your ‘gotcha’ is unwarranted. Bug stopped kissing Tia when Buck arrived - who he didn’t even know was Tia’s uncle - so he wasn’t deliberately kissing her in front of her family as you mistakenly thought.

Ok lets take this from the top.

Buck knows that Tia is an angry and moody 15 year old girl. And she just moved to a new town and probably doesn't have many friends there.

When he pulls up to school, he finds them making out, with Bug being more the aggressor and his left hand hovering around Tia's chest.

Then when Bug approaches the car, he gets a better look at him. He realized that Bug is at least two years older than Tia, and the kind of guy who tries to impress girls by acting like a rebel, based on how he was dressed and carried himself. Then the first thing he says to Buck "Ever hear of a tune up, hehehe?" Buck had a pretty good picture of who Bug was. Bug was a guy just like he was at that age. Looking for girls as Buck described "with a cute face and a chip on their shoulder." and convince them that you're the only one who cares for them, and say everything they want to hear.

Finally, as the car ride continues, Buck gets two more pieces of information that are very telling about Bug. First that he goes by the name Bug. Second that Tia's parents did not know about Bug. He asked her if her parents stay out of her personal life, to which she replied that they don't know her personal life, indicating that she was keeping this information from them, knowing that they wouldn't approve.

Bug is cuddling Tia with his hand on her arm, and Buck scowles at him as soon as he pulls up - all he has seen is two young adults kissing 🤷🏻‍♂️
