Is it true that Chris Elliot + David Mirkin recorded commentary tracks?

I seem to recall hearing or reading a long time ago that they recorded commentary tracks for all 35 episodes back when a DVD release of the complete series seemed to be in the works, before that fell through.
Is this right, or am I imagining it?

That was what Chris said on a Daily Show interview a while ago. However, as far as I can tell, the project is as dead as disco. The studio hated the show when it ran, and I guess they still do.
