DVD's cancelled forever :(
Chris, why oh why?
We will never see the DVD's! Bands are asking too much $$ for the use of the right of the songs.
RIP GaL DVD's. You were never born and yet you are so dead. RIP.

Where did you hear that the set was canceled forever?
I've been watching all of the episodes recently and many of them have no songs at all and the others only have one or two songs each. It isn't like they NEED to use the licensed songs in the episodes either. If they can't afford a certain song then they can replace the music with something that they already have the rights to. I can't think of any song used in the series that was so specific to the situation that it would be a problem for them to replace it.
probably the REM one in the opening credits
shareThe REM song is on the Rhino dvd releases and those aren't exactly big budget discs. Even if the song was causing trouble then it could be replaced very easily since it doesn't represent anything that is happening on screen. I think Married With Children had to replace the opening music on some of their DVD sets and it didn't stop them from being released.

Not sure if the music $$ is the reason complete DVD sets aren't being released, but it would make sense.
Don't forget that beyond the credits there were a number of songs played over action or as little vignettes during the episodes.
Since there were 2 DVD's already, REM and Animotion (for 'Obsession') apparently approved the use of their music.
On the other hand, two songs I could see being difficult to get DVD rights for would be "For the Love of Money" by The O'Jays and "Living in America" by James Brown
I'm only guessing they'd be tricky because "Money" is now Donald Trump's unofficial theme song, and anything to do with James Brown's estate/income is mired in all kinds of inheritance issues.
Yeah, it's all about the money. And that's stupid because now people are paying $50 for 4 lousy VHS rip offs on ebay. :(

When they got the rights to the theme for the previous DVD releases, I wonder if those rights were good for all DVD releases of the series. The first season of Married... with Children used the theme song but replaced it in later season sets. And Time-Life released the Vincent Price epsiode of The Muppet Show uncut on DVD, but when the first seaso of The Muppet Show was later released on DVD, "You've Got a Friend" was cut.
damn
sharesomeone needs to get the series up on a torrent yall

I read somewhere that SONY has decided to wait until the economy gets worse, then they will release the Get A Life series in several volumes at expensive prices. I guess they know what they're doning.
I hope they make it a priority soon!! I want those dvd's!!!
sharethere's a torrent of the complete series on DVD available
sharea quick google can find it as well ...
been watching the series run with my girlfriend who was not familiar with it beyond the 2 DVDs and she's been in hysterics to the point of me having to stop the show so she should calm down a few times. she's a dork.

Only living to die
There is a website called StumpyDisks that has a complete series collection for about $20. I just got mine in the mail today. Awesome collection. Not a high quality transfer, but it's great for having no proper DVD releases.
Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn for Sega.
Isn't it funny how these big companies make people wait so long to release the TV shows on DVD. Then, by the time they decide to release it, we (the fans) have already obtained it through other sources.
By the time they decide to release "Get a Life" on DVD, the hype will be gone & they wont sell half as many DVD sets as they would have if they had sold it when it was still "hot".

A couple of months ago we passed along word from Chris Elliott himself that Shout! Factory would be putting out Get a Life - The Complete Series on DVD. The following day Shout! confirmed this, while verifying that the REM theme song "Stand" would be intact.
Now Shout! has announced the title to retailers, scheduling Get a Life - The Complete Series 5-DVD set, will be available in stores on September 18th.
