It should be called '10 African Americans plus Jim Carrey'

Like the title said, I think they just got Jim Carrey because they were forced to get one white person and Jim Got lucky.

On what planet are Jay Leggett, Kelly Coffield (Park), Steve Park, Alexandra Wentworth, and Carol Rosenthal considered African American???

reply

Exactly. From the original cast he seems to have forgot Kelly Coffield. Also, one could use the same arguement and point at SNL with the all white cast and a black here and there.

reply

Jim wasn't lucky. Damon Wayans knew Jim Carrey back when they did Earth Girls are Easy. He was suggested the role.

You guys took the words out of my mouth I was about to mention the rest of the cast plus the Asian guy.

reply

So I guess the other white actors are African Americans too? You might as well call SNL a bunch of white actors plus one or two black guys then. Get educated.

reply

"In Living Color" was always meant to be a reversal of existing sketch comedy shows like SNL, which featured almost exclusively white casts with one or two token black actors. In response, "In Living Color" featured an almost entirely black cast with two token white actors (Carrey and Coffield). Over the course of the series, they added more white actors as well as Steve Park, but the show was conceived primarily with a black audience in mind and was meant to reflect an African-American point of view, which was missing from other sketch comedy shows.

Only 1 white person? Did you even watch the show?
