92 christmas episode?

Someone brought this up a while back on Kelly Coffield's page, but I was just watching the 1992 christmas special on this channel I get called SiTV (it broadcasts a lot of latino themed programs, almost like a latino version of BET) and I was wondering what was up with the ending of the episode? Jamie Foxx is singing at the piano and a few of the cast members give christmas wishes to loved one. Behind them, a few of the cast members are standing there with shades on and their hands behind their backs completely straight faced not saying. What was this about exactly? Was it just something random to be quirky, or a reference perhaps?
