What is the story about Josie? *Spoilers welcome*

Spoilers and all that jazz.

Now im re-watching Twin Peaks with no subtitles, and English isn't native. What's the story with her becoming so desperate and refusing any help, at all, from the sheriff who loves her so? I failed to see the motives and she always seems so innocent at heart. I got that she tried to hassle the hag, oh sorry, I mean Catherine (she played her role well), had some shady connections and a old lover. But it looked like she thought there were no solutions to anything, even working as a slave to Pete and Catherine, getting so desperate as to try to kill Coop and all. There was so much going on, so if anybody could summise shortly what happened to her and what she did up till her death? Thnx in advance. Coop says she was a hardened killer but she didnt feel like that.

A killer, yes, but not necessarily quite that hardened. Which may help understand why she felt she was so doomed and beyond redemption. Did she think she deserved redemption?

I have watched TP 3 times all the way through and my take on the Josie story has always been that she is Triad. That she is tied to a Triad family and was sent to Washington to marry the mill owner, kill him, inherit the mill, sell the mill, and take the money back to Hong Kong. The local sheriff is no match for a Triad boss. A long con for sure, but the payout is there. Very little in the way of expenses and a $5 million payout.
