Mary confronting Sylvia or at least asking her why she did what she did (leaving her on a doorstep).

Perhaps as follows: -

(As seen in film)

Sylvia: ...u are a SELFISH BASTARD!

Peter: Selfish?! Well I Didnt leave my baby on a doorstep when she was six months old!!

(ADDED)

*Mary sees him say this at the top of the stairs, and runs up hurt*

*Peter sees her and gives a regretful sigh*

*Sylvia slaps him*

*Sylvia goes up to console Mary and talk with her*

*Peter hears from the door and leaves bowing his head*

*Jack leaves the same time to go to his movie filming and says goodbye*

*Michael says goodbye by himself and Peter simply waves, having said goodbye to Mary after Jack's bedroom talk with Mary.*

That's really good, and would've added a lot to the movie.

I always loved that he threw that doorstep thing in her face. Clearly she's become a good, caring mother, but what a *beep* up thing to do! He was totally right!
