I doubt that she was not sexually assaulted. The guy had her for eight days in a cave. There are generally two reasons why you have stranger abductions of teenage girls. One is for ransom and the other is for sex.
I know she said that she was not raped, but the stigma for rape victims back in the mid 1960's was huge. Her photographs were plastered everywhere as well as her name during that time. Since her abductor William Hollenbaugh had been killed, I think law enforcement agreed to keep quiet it to the rest of the world because they didn't need to know about the sexual assault(s), and that is if she even admitted that they happened after she was rescued.
I could be wrong. He might not have had the time or his mind was so off kilter that he wasn't able to focus on that. After all, the guy was a former mental patient and it is hard to predict what they will do.

i respectfully disagree with your disagreement. He had tried to rape a woman before this incident, but he was impotent at the time. although its entirely possible they could have put a quash on a rape. i just think she was lucky enough to have been taken by someone who couldnt perform.

If he tried to rape a woman prior to his abduction of Peggy Ann, then I am doubly sure that she was sexually assaulted in some way, even if he was impotent. I’ve talked to teenage girls who were under the impression that anything sexual that wasn’t a direct risk for pregnancy didn’t actually count as sex. One of them still considered herself a virgin after having done things that would shock you. I wouldn’t be surprised if more than a few 17 year-old girls in 1966 believed the same thing.
