The DVD - at least in North America - was a lackluster release. It's letterbox (meaning it's not anamorphic and will not "stretch" to accommodate widescreen televisions, leaving black bars on the tops and sides of the screen).
If you think the DVD was impressive than you will be blown away by the blu ray.....it's not going to have the picture quality of a recent blu ray release of course, but even just the fact that it's anamorphic widescreen is warrant enough to purchase. Picture clarity and quality is very impressive as well......I have a tough time believing they could ever make the film look much better.
So if you have a big widescreen television? The racing scenes (and don't forget the sound) make for a pretty awesome experience.
Considering I picked my copy up at Wal-Mart for $7.50, it's a no-brainer. It was an early blu ray release title around 2007 or 2008; you can usually find a copy pretty cheap at Wal-Mart or Best Buy.
