why is it called Days of Thunder?

Can someone please help....What does "days of thunder" mean? Why is this film called "Days of Thunder"? Thanks!

I'm not sure if there is an officail answer... so I'll go with my opinion.

Nascar has 43 cars running carb V8s. The sound of them firing up and roaring around is very loud, that deep rumble/bass almost like thunder. Also with the cars around the back of the track the sound will travel, almost like rolling thunder aswell.

I guess the 'Days' is refering the 'good ol days', 'is this our time now', 'we're currently racing in them' kind of view.

Who knows, I might be totally wrong. lol

You are pretty much right on imo.

When the cars start-up on race days. Sounds like thunder.

Actually...its a homage to a 50's movie called "Thunder Road" Robert Mitchum..tells the story of a war vet who comes home to run moonshine and stockcar race....Mitchum portraits NASCAR Vet Junior Johnson... In the title.. Days of Thunder... it implies the days of moonshine running...how NASCAR got it roots...Thunder Road is also a roller coaster at Carowinds..near Charlotte,N.C.....most NASCAR shops and drivers call Charlotte home....Rick Hendrick and Harry Hyde both ..North Carolina natives

Racecars are loud. So is thunder. It's pretty obvious when English is your primary language.
