Probably wasn't the best career move for Cruise at that time.
Not a terrible movie, but basically just a second-rate Top Gun. Not the greatest choice after back-to-back Oscar films.
shareBy the time this came out, Cruise could have had the lead role in a low budget class B horror movie and people would have still liked him. This movie was pretty good though, I liked it and it did fairly well at the box office. I don't think it hurt his career. Some might even say this is better than Top Gun and it could be a legitimate argument to make.
