Films like this...

Hey, I love this film and I was just wondering if anyone knows of any other films like this. I really like the concept of a kooky, eccentric single mum that deals with bringing up her children. All replies will be much apprechiated.

Though far more dramatic in tone 'Desert Bloom' is set in the 50's and deal's with mother daughter relationships.

"Living our maggot lives, dreaming of becoming flies."

I haven't seen "Spanglish" yet but from what I have heard that seems to be kind of a movie like that... planning to watch it on HBO tonight though!

Hideous Kinky! Glad someone posted on this topic. Is Tumbleweeds the one with the mom who keeps moving around out West and her 13yo finally scores a part in a Shakespeare play and the mom falls in love with this borderline-abusive guy? If not Tumbleweeds, can anyone help me recall which film this was? I saw it on TV, perhaps on Hallmark, not certain.

When you think of garbage, think of Hakim!

Kinda on the theme, though with varying levels of kookyness, usually only children, and some other themes....
"Alice Doesn't Live Here Any More"
"Little Man Tate"
"Dear Frankie"
"You Can Count on Me"
"About A Boy"
"Chocolat"
"The Home Song Stories"
"Freaky Friday"
"I Could Never Be Your Woman"

there's also the TV show "Weeds" and the book "The Illustrated Mum" (which I think is also a TV movie though I haven't seen it).

I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of right now!

How come weeds is considered in this genre? I think people misunderstood what the OP mean, he/she wants a romantic comedy, am I right? well only one movie pop out in my head; The Perfect Man - Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear
