The moral of the story is that is is better to stay and confront your demons, rather than running away every time something doesn't go right.

She also said she was Joan Arc doesn't mean she is

MovieLover11 made the comment, "She freakin says that she's 18!"

This is true, but she says it when she's in the physician's office about to be examined. If she said her real age, she would have had to have her mother present. She didn't want that so she lied.

reply

Just to buttress what I said in my last post about the age of Ryder's character, there's this from Wikipedia's description of the movie:

"Mermaids is narrated in the first person by Charlotte Flax, a 15-year-old girl living with her mother..."

reply

I am sure Charlotte even says that she is 15 when Rachel is teaching her to drive.

Rachel - Charlotte you drive like old people make love.

Charlotte - I'm only 15 I get nervous.

Mrs Voorhees is watching you!

..have sex with men and you'll be popular at school.

reply

have sex with men who are 11 years older than you and you'll be popular in school lol

reply

LOL, that was good!

Not a great film IMO, but not bad.

reply

The moral of the story is...don't have sex with older men at a convent or God will almost kill your aby sister. DUH! I thought everyone knew that :)
