Mrs. Crain??? Possible Spoilers

After Kate wins at the swim meet...the family is outside and her Coach comes up to meet with Kate's family. Well after they are finished talking the camera pans to Mrs. Crain in the car and she is picking up the Coach are they hinting that they were having an affair?

B/c I know later when Charlotte is fasting after her kiss with Joe, Lou and Rachel are talking about the Crains trying to get pregnant...

I don't know this just kinda bugged me...it could just be people in a small town gossiping.

Yea, just the next time you watch the movie check out how many times they talk about the Crains...its a whole lot more than I thought originally.

Yeah,

In the book the Coach and Mrs. Crane ran off together. Apparently they were together for some time and Mrs. Crane would stay at the Coach's house so often that she even had her own shelf in the Coach's fridge. Then one day Kate came crying to Charlotte and told her that the Coach left and that the Coach and Mrs. Crain kiss each other on the lips. Apparently Mrs. Crane decided to leave Mr. Crane and the Coach called him from a truck stop and broke the news to him and called him a lousy teacher.

I guess that little scene was a nod to those who read the book.

But in the film isn't the coach female? Are you saying it was a same-sex relationship?

Yes...thats what I mean. I mean back then...they had to hide it much more. I haven't read the book, but from what other people say here, it goes into muchmore detail in the book.
