Choose your top 3 horror movie remakes.

My top 3.

The Fly
The Blob
Night of the Living Dead

The fly is and always will be the best remake if all time

reply

I haven't even seen the original, but still think the remake was only so-so. Maybe barely in the good category.

What?! You don't have the VERY BEST on your list. The Thing! The 1951 "The Thing From Another World" is a terrible movie when compared to it's remake The Thing (1982). All three of those films take a back seat to which may be the best horror film ever made (2nd possibly only to the Shining).

Ironically, if you want to go one step further. You'll have, sadly, yet another example of a bad remake The Thing (2011) which was a POS.

reply

The Thing (2011) was a prequel to Carpenter and Russell's movie. Not a remake.

The Thing

Invasion of the body Snatchers

The Fly

Love this movie, but being objective, it's just not better than those three films.

I love to love my Lisa.

My Top Horror Movie Remakes would have to go as follows:

1. John Carpenter's THE THING (1982)
2. INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1978)
3. THE RING (2002)
4. THE FLY (1986)
5. DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004)

& here is a short list of some other Horror Movie Remakes that I enjoyed & are solid flicks in my opinion--

THE CRAZIES (2010)
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1990)
THE BLOB (1988)
LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (2009)
FRIGHT NIGHT (2011)
CAPE FEAR (1991)

reply

The Thing
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Fly

But there are others:

The Blob
The Hills Have Eyes
Last House on the Left
Dawn of the Dead
Night of the Living Dead
Halloween
Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Remaking a film is not a bad thing. It gives you another version to watch, if done right and something to ignore if done wrong.
