The night Tommy Gunn beat Union Cane

I'm one of the few people that actually liked Rocky V despite all its errors and plot holes. It was a necessary story to tell in order that 'Rocky Balboa' could be told later.

But one thing has always really bugged me... The night that Tommy Gunn wins the title, he fought at Caesar's Palace (I assume Las Vegas). So how can he fight against Rocky in the street that same night if Rocky was in Philadelphia? We know it's the same night because Rocky went to the bar with Paulie directly after watching the title fight on tv... And Tommy Gunn is still wearing the same clothes he wore during the post-fight press conference at Caesar's Palace. So did Tommy just magically teleport himself and Duke to Philly?

Unless I miss them saying Las Vegas, it could have been Caesar's Palace in Atlantic City which is less than 60 miles from Philly. But the thing is, even though he won the match wouldn't he be ummmm still be tired? I mean who would really want to fight again after all ready being in the ring plus do a press conference?

We don't know which one (Vegas or Atlantic City), as the skyline of the city showing the "Gunn Vs. Cane" marquee doesn't resemble either cities. Regardless, it's not at all realistic that Tommy would be in Philly to fight Rocky that very same night he wins the title.

One other gripe... How the hell did Tommy even know Rocky is at that bar at that time? He sure didn't go to Rocky's house to ask Adrian or Rocky Jr where he was. We know this because of when Rocky Jr sees on TV that his dad is fighting, he tells his mom "it's dad, he's on TV, he's fighting!"... His mom reacts shocked. So they didn't know anything about Tommy Gunn being in town looking for Rocky.

It's just a very poorly thought-out, poorly written and unrealistic scene.

And the news crew the reporter and videographer unless they were near by filming something else and wondered what the commotion was. But I agree, it's entertaining but very unrealistic. And why is it that only Tommy I'm guessing gets arrested? We see at least 3 officers pick him up. I doubt it was really to see if he was all right. Both him and Rocky were disturbing the peace even if they were all out there cheering on.

The fight between Tommy and Union Cane was filmed in Convention Hall of the Civic Center complex in Philadelphia. The whole movie was filmed in Philly except for the scenes at Rocky's mansion. That was filmed in Pasadena, California. Hope this helps.

And I always assumed Tommy did get arrested. And he was more than likely stripped of his title and lost his fighter's license. He was a professional fighter and their hands are considered deadly weapons. So after Tommy's street fight with Rocky, he was pretty much finished. In the work print version, Rocky actually tries to get Tommy to stop in the middle of the fight. He tells Tommy he's gonna lose everything. Tommy, of course, doesn't listen. Then after the fight is over, Rocky and Tommy shake hands, which I thought was silly and was thankfully changed. And when the cops go over to Tommy in the work print version, I think I remember them wanting Tommy's autograph or something. That was also silly and I'm glad it was changed.
