shareI would think any structure built to last long term would require a solid concrete foundation nowadays. However, the various North American Indian nations made due without cement.
shareSure, but this was a more modern small town and nobody except for the prepers had any concrete. Maybe the sand is stable enough that they don't need it? I truly have no idea.
shareSand wouldn't have enough stability to support a proper structure over many decades so I guess it doesn't make a lot of sense. Maybe it was just a quick, slap together set design.
shareI was more thinking it made it more plausible for the graboids to bust through the floors, since we saw one kill itself on the cement wall when it ran into it, although slabs aren't as thick as the wall.
