Vanilla Ice's shout-out to Jim Jarmusch

In "Cool as Ice," prominent on the back of Vanilla's totally rad jacket are the words "Down By Law," which the rapper placed there as a shout-out to homeboy Jim Jarmusch, director of Stranger Than Paradise, Dead Man, and, of course, the aforementioned title.

"His poetic cinema be sharper than the point on the tip of a nail," Vanilla Ice commented. "Them other whackhead directors? Ain't got nuthin on the Jar man. He be seekin' out performers already established themselves in non-cinematic media, and then he be juxtaposin' the most wildly contrasting styles and, uh, schling a schlong."

When asked to elaborate on Jarmusch's use of "schling a schlong," the rapper stated, "Check this--homeboy plucked the jailbreak plot from the cinematic commonplace and found plain, eloquent locations y'all can vision and feel. He be combinin' a budgetary genius with an unerring eye for American archetypes."

Vanilla is equally appreciative of Jarmusch's employ of cinematographer Robby Müller: "His Dutch sensibility be considered to the extreme for bayou rococo, to the point no faking, and that black-and-white stock don't play. Stay true, stay true."
