What more could you ask from a movie? It had music, great costumes, some great action scenes, white people, comedy, some kicking dialogue.
I know it isn't Citizen Kane, but it's not meant to be. As V. Ice would say, "Kane is lame, yo!".

shareI agree...I never thought this movie was supposed to be serious. It's very entertaining as an ultimate send-up of white kids who try so hard to sound and act black.
And to tell you the truth, there are many who preceded him that did the same thing in their day when they started out...not the least of which was Elvis Presley in his early days.
All you have to do is watch American Idol for one season and you will see that the more a white kid sounds black or imitates blacks the more they seem to succeed. So why pick on Van Ice? At least he had good looks, great physique and a sense of humor which a lot of them lack all three of.
