Ernest fans-where was Gailard Sartain?

John Cadenhead played "Tom" alonside Bill Byrge's "Bobby". Obviously a role for "Chuck", it would have been better with him, and probably the team would have had more screen time. Sartain was in "Camp", "saves Christmas", and had a large role in "goes to jail". I was disappointed with this film because I was expecting the "Chuck and Bobby" of "Ernest Goes to Jail"-more screen-time and more interaction with Ernest.

Does anyone know why Sartain was not in the film? was he shooting something else at the time?

Gailard Sartain's still alive and acting. Check his bio on this site. It was Jim Varney who died a few years ago after filming the last Ernest movie 'Ernest Goes to Africa'.

They don't put people like us in hell, we'd only end up running the place.

Actually the last Ernest movie was being made when he died it was to be called "Ernest the Pirate", but Jim Varney died during production. From what I've heard it was almost completely done, which means there's another Ernest movie out there somewhere. They must have had some really pivotal scenes that needed to be done.

not sure why Gailard wasn't on this one. Maybe he was too busy with "Hee Haw", there's no tellin really.
