Does anyone else actually like this?

I think Freddy's dead is a good, fun movie.
I like the story, and the characters, and I think the creepines of abandoned town and crazy people in it is spot on.

However horror is no longer present and any scare is long gone, I mean, they aren't even trying to be scary no more, some kills are direct copy from Looney toones cartoons, how is that suppose to be scary?

So I find this movie to be a good entertaining flick, not a good horror movie, but a good movie nevertheless. Well, I admit it's maybe the worst in the franchise, but still good.

I think Nightmare on elm street doesn't have a really bad sequel at all.

From time to time, I'll pop in the DVD. Truth be told, I probably don't watch it any more or less than the most of the others.

Parts 4 and 6 are the goofballs of the series lol

Right here. I love "Freddy's Dead." I don't really care much about being scared by Freddy Krueger. I want to be entertained by him. FD delivers.

I kind of get why younger people don't like the movie now. It was very much a product of the time it came out. And when it was released, most people (not all, most) really enjoyed it.

Is my personal favorite and I think it might be just that, it's a movie of its time and it reminds me of 1992 and that's always a great memory for anybody.

It's ok! But for me is the wickest movie in the whole saga.

I like 1-3, 6 and New Nightmare.

4 is probably the worse.

Freddy vs Jason isn't great, but at least it was more serious and had lots of gore.

Those are my exact favorites. My favorite of them all is New Nightmare, but Freddy's Dead has a mix of creepiness and humor that the rest don't really have. And I love the whole 'Freddy has a child' plotline.

My problem with the movie is just a lot of different things. For one, I can't stand how campy it is. Don't get me wrong, I like some camp but it just seems to be too much in this one. There's also the complete lack of continuity when it comes to the rest of the films. People can say what they want about "Dream Child" and such, but at least they had stories that tied in to the films that came before. It was just far too cartoony and slap-stick. And, the whole fake out of John Doe being his son was ridiculous. I mean, did he REALLY think that he was nearly 40 years old?

I really don't mean to rag on this movie, but this and Freddy's Revenge just seem to take place in alternate realities. I still watch it when I marathon but I dread it more than any of the others.
