VIDEO GAME SEQUENCE

I, despide all the hate actually like this film. It has some interesting sequences, and some back story of freddy. Plus the acting is quite good.
Sure it isn't a bit scary at all, but still interesting to watch.

There is however "that" sequence which ruines the whole movie and that is the video game one offcourse.
How in the world any of the producers/directors thought that would be scary to anyone? It's more childish than any tom and jerry cartoon.
I know it was made for the kids to like the movie, since freddy has become more and mor kids movie over the year, but even the kids aren't that stupid you know.

The movie itself aint scaryy in any place, but sill quite interesting, but in that second it just becomes stupid.
I would rate the whole thing 7, but because of that sequnece hardly 4 or 5.

I agree with you about this movie actually being kind of entertaining to watch despite it being a horrible horror movie. It actually succeeds more as a comedy than a horror movie. But that being said there is some fun parts in it. We are reviewing all the films for our youtube channel and watching them all in order, you are right, the acting in this one is better than in the later sequels. Its terribly boring through the first half of the movie but its decent enough. Ill probably give it a 5/10

Wrong about the video game scene, back in those days Nintendo and Sega and stuff were getting huge, this was just Freddy relating to the teens watching the film in theaters. I loved it as a kid, one of the best scenes, I was probably 7 or so when I seen it for the first time and even I knew it was a goofy light scene that was kinda lame but it added to the over all creepy dream feeling of the whole film.

I agree, I think around 1991 the SNES was just out, the megadrive/genesis was already out.

Thought this was one of, if not the most creative Death scenes in any Freddy Film, as it used imagination, and gotta love how it shows both Spencer and Freddy in the video game and how the video game scene becomes real, where Spencer starts bouncing around the house like he's in the video game, which in his dream or nightmare, he actually is.

I felt this scene tops Marks Death from Part 5 where Mark becomes a Comic book character. This with Spencer is more believeable because Spencer is Physically bouncing around the house where the rest of the kids and staff can see him.

I grew up on Sega/NES and even still I thought this sequence was lame.

Aren't dreams like that sometimes?

Just because we lose today's battle doesn't mean we've lost tommorow's war.

Dreams are like that sometimes yes, but it's still not scary to put it in a horror movie.
I was like 8 or 9, when I first watched Nightmare on elm street 3 (my first Freddy movie), and I *beep* my pants (not literally :)), I was so scared. I was even affraid to go to sleep.
And a couple of months later, I watched this one, I didn't get scared once. I enjoyed the movie still, but if a 9 year old kid doesn't get scared of a horror movie, and in the times when horror movies weren't as graphic and bloody as they are now (kids nowadays are are used to anything), that tells you something about the movie.
I got scared in every other Freddy movie, more or less.
