Straight actors acting gay is unintentionally hilarious

Kevin Bacon
Tommy Lee Jones
Joe Pesci

There's no way the gays would let this fly in this day and age.

I don't think they'd find the scenes necessarily homophobic if they were played by homosexuals.

Well, there really wasn't more than a couple of out gay actors at the time.

These characters are pretty over the top, but have you ever been to New Orleans? First time I was there in the mid 80s I went to little bars during the day (It was the NCAA tournament and I wanted to watch my team!) and chatted with some of the locals. There are a lot of characters there

Eric Stonestreet, who is straight, played a gay man on "Modern Family" as recently as 2020. He was completely convincing, extremely funny, and had many gay fans who apparently had no problem letting it fly.
