Does anyone feel that Ralph would have been better with another actor playing the role?

YES! I was watching this trash and the only thing worst than the film itself was John Goodman's performance. He's plain awful in it. Even Peter O'Toole couldn't make him look good. His words don't seem connected to anything. There's no emotion behind them. He's completely blank inside. Not once do we ever feel anything for him other than he's an emotionless blank idiot with no inner life. His love interest? Ridiculous! Again, nothing inside. Note to director, even idiots have feelings!

It says in the trivia that the role was written with Bill Murray in mind. Whether it's true or not I don't know.
