Popke

Love Popke. IDK if anyone notices, but Paul tasks Popke with blocking someone on the last play of the game. If you pay attention you can see Popke just wildly throwing himself in front of someone, throwing a key block that allows Blake time to make the pass. Love it.

your calling that a key block ? he was launched over the Defender & forgotten. considering the armadillos record & the fact there'd be no OT going for 2 was the right move but in todays game the center would have been penalized for a block on a Defenseless player & ejected.

reply

no...i'm talking about after that when Blake is scrambling...Popke dives wildy infront of a guy to make a block.

reply

confusing cause you referenced it as "last play of the game"

reply

Yes...the last play of the game -- the fake field goal. Paul asks him to block someone and while Paul is scrambling you can see Popke wildly diving infront of a guy, tripping him up. I think you are thinking of Charlie Banks -- he gets picked up and thrown by the Texas lineman right at the snap...then he gathers himself and is in the end zone for the winning TD catch.

reply

I saw Banks as being "Wildly Thrown" i viewed Popke's block as textbook & not wild but todays game would call that a hit on a defenseless player & the TD would be waved off & they'd be backdup 15
