After the scene on the stairs when Ben says ‘God what did he do to you?’

At this point Laura hadn’t told him who she was or what/who she was running from. How did he know or assume a man must have been the reason she didn’t want to have sex?

I think he just had a feeling that's why she was so scared and crying, and why she was so secretive. When he said it, he wasn't saying it out of frustration, he was saying it out of concern.

Remember when Laura went to his house with the apple pie? She was frustrated with his questions and pulled her hair back and Ben saw a red bruise on the side of her forehead. So, he assumed a man did it. He was right.
