Why are people born in the 90's so obsessed with being called a 90s kid?

I think 78-81 babies are 80's/90's hybrids, 82-87 are true 90's kids and 88-91 are hybrids of the 90's/00's. I don't think it's a big deal but I find it strange that someone born in 1994 talks to me like they're just as much or more of a 90's kid. I was born in 83 and I would find it silly to pretend like I was really part of the 80's. I just don't understand the 90's babies way of thinking. What years of birth would you consider someone a 90's kid?

It's tough. The general definition of a 90's kid, would be someone that was born and raised in the 90s. Of course, I am sure there could be flexibility by opinion such that, if you were born in any other decade prior to the 90s; but could actually remember those shows, it would be to your benefit to think of yourself as being a part of it.

Now when you mention that you are slightly bothered by NOT being a 90s born or that someone thinks that they are MORE 90s than you are, I would look back at what happened in your decade. To me, 90s were probably the best for shows. That does not mean I could tell you what happened in the 80s. In fact, I have heard that people born and raised in the 80s actually had it better. It may not have been the best for network shows, which again, you could prove me wrong on opinion; however, I do know that some of the best music was produced then. Take the fact that you were born prior to 90s to be more of a positive asset when you feel down that you were not born in the 90s. I am sure with every decade, there was something that happened that would better both the future and past decades.

THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!

The way I see it:

X/Y cusp: 1977-1983

True Y: 1984-1994

Y/Z cusp: 1995-2001

Any age in which you can first remember the culture of the time, I would say is the one you belong to. I was born in 89, but I strongly identify as 90'd kid. Everything about it. I remember the wacky commericals, pogs, pokemon cards, nerf guns, going to friends houses to play super nintendo, builing forts in the woods, riding around town by bike like in The Goonies, the grunge music, all the 90's Canadian kids/teen shows like Student Bodies, Radio Active, Degrassi, man. All of it is ingrained into my head for life. Then everything went to shit after Myspace.

What nonsense. I was born in 1982 and definitely consider myself a 80s AND a 90s kid. Obviously I did not have the same experience as those who were teens in the 80s, but I grew up with typically 80s cartoons, tv shows, music, toys, clothing, etc.

because 90's kids are born stupid.

I don't know. I was born in 1994 and I consider myself the definition of a true 2000's kid. But sometimes I wish I could have been a young adult in the 2000's instead because I absolutely despise the 2010's with a serious passion.
