Is this Movie Real?
Hey all.
Is this movie based on true events? If so does anyone know where this happened?
Yes this movie is based on a true story. I don't think we will ever know where it takes place because if you notice the end where they say what happened to the characters, they put their names in "quotes" so I think they renamed everyone. Great movie.

Well, I wanted to reply and give some better information, but I'm not sure how much help I am on that because I can't really remember everything. I haven't heard all the details in many years. It's definitely based on a true story though, the infant who was kidnapped is my cousin's cousin, rachel, whom I've met. However I cannot for the life of me remember where they were when it happened.
If I remember correctly, rachel was kidnapped by a woman who posed as a nanny and entered their home. And also, it's been a long standing assumption in my family that, even though he denied it, the woman's husband knew about and was in on the kidnapping from the beginning.
when the movie first aired back in 1992 the actual mother and daughter appeared on the news after the movie.there names were different than they were in the movie.
shareI think this movie is actually based on my parents. The kidnapped a 2 wk old baby in 1991. From southeast South Dakota. I saw the mother and the child 5 yrs later on Geraldo.
