Entertaining
I hadn't seen this in years until i saw it on youtube. It is totally over the top gory fun with a lot of kiwi humor. As far as it being super gory, it is but it is cartoonish - imagine Benny Hill mugging whilst he gets eviscerated - and I think the monkey was the only scary 'character.' Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson have a lot in common and, as others have pointed out, this has a similar sensibility to Army of Darkness. Enjoy!
