Is it true that this movie was the inspiration for the JAG series and it's NCIS spin-offs?
The movie was quite a success back then. And Donald P. Bellisario just finished his last show Quantum Leap. For this show, he did some research on the NIS and JAG and liked the idea. So with the success of the movie and his experience in detective shows like Quincy ME and Magnum PI, it was likely an easy pitch.
