Obviously a jab at white people

I've never seen a black directed movie include so many stereotypes of white people: dumb Italian-Americans, overzealous rednecks, smooth talking Brits, nerdy associates etc.

Didnt it seem weird to the rest of yall? :)

reply

Its not the director who wrote the movie.

Well the director can decide the look and feel of it though.

I think you're taking things way too seriously. Lighten up a bit!

reply

Nothing serious, its a fun thing to discuss. I don't hate stereotypes at all, its amusing that theyre so prominent in this movie.

For what it's worth, this was written with Stallone in mind to play John Cutter. He passed on it, and needless to say they cast Snipes. Good move too, I like Sly and all, but Snipes was pretty bad-ass in this.

reply

If Stallone was originally cast as Cutter then the line "always bet on black" could have only come from Snipes or the director.

It would've been even funnier if Stallone said it.

DISPLAY thy breasts, my Julia!

reply

Well how bout that. I agree with me from 10 years ago, Snipes was great in this.

reply

Always bet on black???

reply

The guy with a 80s perm was really taking the biscuit.

It's that man again!!

reply

I don't think you are entirely wrong. It was pretty clear this movie tried to appeal to a black audience.

reply

I think Hollywood was trying very hard at that time to get Wesley Snipes to be as big as Stallone/Arnold/Van Damme. They didn't have a black action star in that era (which was the action movie golden age).

reply

Making fun of Whites back then was all in good fun. They didn't actually hate White people. Unlike the woke anti-Whiteness we have today.
Today you can feel the contempt. They hate us. Hate them back.

reply

They've always hated us. They're just free to fully express it now.

reply

Either way, hate them back.
