Starfleet promotion schedule?

I get why Sisko was a CMDR at the beginning of the series but after DS9 became the hotspot he should have been replaced with a CAPT or been promoted to one.

Later, when DS9 really got cooking, he should have been replaced with or promoted to RADM or VADM.

I tell you what.

It was season 4 when things heated up i.e. they knew the dominion had infiltrated the quadrant, the Klingons were enemies at that point Sisko was a captain. When the war started VADM Ross could have transferred his flag from starbase 325 to DS9 in order to co-ordinate fleet operations however it would be overkill to have a flag officer run a station, 325 was a short distance away and was more centrally located given DS9 was on a fringe

He was promoted to captain as to replacing him with a admiral (I don't think starfleet has RADM or VADM) it was a bajoran station do you really think the bajorans would have accepted the emissary getting replaced.

They do have a rear admiral, vice admiral, admiral system. Rear admiral is two clustered rank pips up to admiral four clustered pips. When admiral Ross transferred command of USS Sao Paulo to Sisko he referred to himself as vice admiral. Unsure if a one star is RADM lower half or commodore or if the rank of fleet admiral exists.

reply

Don't know I know commodore used to exist in TOS but in TNG and beyond I don't think there is any commodores mentioned.

The rank of commodore is mentioned in two TNG episodes, "Conspiracy" and "The Enemy". Apparently it was no longer used after 2364.
