I feel like this is a plot/character element that would further make some quality storylines within the canon of DS9. To be honest, it feels odd that it was not more of a prominent story fixture in the 7th season of the show.

I thought the Prophets just chose him as The Emissary, their human ambassador for lack of a better word.
The opening story arc of season 7 involves the revelation that Sisko's biological mother was one of the prophets. Joseph Sisko reveals that she disappeared completely after he was born.

shareI've in the middle of re-watching this, but I'm only in Season 2. I sure don't recall it came out that his mother was one of the prophets. I wonder if that's something that was always in the plans, or they just threw that in there right quick.
