Why is it rated so highly?
The acting in this movie was incredibly terrible.
shareBut it's such a great blend of comedy and crime-drama. It's also a great story. And who acts so badly so I can critique them more the next time I watch it.
Forgive me as I am not the best judge of acting ability however there are a few parts I can think of with less than stellar acting.
I agree that it's the epic compelling story (or saga, if you will) and the direction that makes this film so good. Definitely not the acting. It's great despite the pretty terrible acting, not because of it:) I guess the bad acting in a way also makes is more like a documentary or re-enactment - kinda like actually casting real life gangsters to act. Oh and it's also highly rated because of its cult status among the latino subculture it portrays.
shareyup and there are also lots of bad movies with great actors. Mi Vida Loca is another classic gangster flick with lots of bad acting, but some of the actors were actual gangsters in real-life (so I let it slide). essentially, all you need is a great story and interesting characters...
