A Parking Space?

Was the fight in the beginning really over a parking space? They don't explain and just say you'll understand when you're older. I never really understood that... Thanks!

Pesci was obviously high up in the ranks since he says at the end "I'll be taking care of things around here for a bit" or something along those lines. The man attacked him with a bat over the fender bender/Parking spot heated exchange and Sonny shot him protecting him.....I guess it wasn't "explained" but I thought it was self explanatory. Didn't mean to come off as snotty in previous post

C even asked if that fight was really about a parking space

The parking space was the catalyst but ultimately the issue was the guy was shot for disrespecting Pesci's character which was something you didn't do to a made guy, especially in public.
