shareI was just about to ask the same question! Did they steal this music from some other movie, a Western perhaps? I've seen "Dragon" a few times and I never thought the theme music fit this film~~~I felt they needed more Far East/triumphant music, sort of like "The Last Emperor". Remember the theme at the end with the tourists at the Forbidden City? That kind of music. The music used in "Dragon" sounds like underdog-team-coming-from-way-behind-and-winning-it-all music. Don't you agree?
shareI don't know. It sounded original to me, but maybe part of the theme was elsewhere, as often themes are, especially by the same composer.

If you define the music that way, then it is perfect for his life.
Now you mention it, the best would be to have distinct west and east too. That would give rise to a lot of opportunities, and blending or separating the two, appropriately.
