Time for a remake?

IMO Homeward Bound is one of the great classic family movies and pretty much everything about it is just perfect, especially the voice talents of Field, Fox and Ameche (sounds like a law firm) and Bruce Broughton's soundtrack. However, kids today are accustomed to the CGI that makes it appear as if the animals are actually talking, not just "thinking" at each other. I would love to see a remake, more of an update really that keeps the voice talents and the music intact. Am I the only one who would like to see this?

No. No more remakes. This one is perfect and the original incredible journey from the 60s is good, too.

I don't care what these kids want today. These abortions that got away can like the movie from the 60's or 90's that's IT

These abortions that got away

Jesus, hate kids much?

Who could hate the fat Facebook generation that can't go five minutes without looking at a cell phone and gets an award just for showing up. I love the little butterballs.

Before we know it, this movie will be 30 years old, and The Incredible Journey will be 60. In a few years, it'll be time for another remake. Are there any parts of the story that you would like to see changed?

reply

None. I think it's perfect as it is. Just outdated which I'm afraid will relegate it to a forgotten film. That's why I'd like to see a CGI remake reusing the original vocal talent. Probably not even a remake but a touch up so that the animals look like they're talking.

was just thinking the same thing

Kids today can watch these films and enjoy them. I was a kid in the early 90's and was able to enjoy the original 1960's version after watching the remake.

Hard to imagine another Homeward Bound/Incredible Journey movie as great as the existing ones...suppose the "lost animals finding their way home" plot could be done yet again in a somewhat different way, maybe. But much as I adore animal films, it seems very unnecessary. What we have is perfect. The animals' mouths moving can be done well, but isn't a good enough reason in itself to make a movie.

reply

They wouldn't have to remake it. Just add CGI to make the animals look like they're talking. It would be an improved re-release more than a remake.

reply

I wouldn't consider that an improvement, as I think it looks much less cheesy when the mouths aren't moving/CG'd. The voices and animal actors' body language combined is more effective for me.

reply

You call that an improvement?? I HATE it when animal mouths are digitized to make them 'talk' like humans. It doesn't look natural at all. One reason this movie is awesome is because they didn't do that. 'Talking' dogs just takes me out of the picture. I want to see natural animals, not animals with animated mouths.

Please, no more remakes!! HB is already a remake and that's good enough! We don't need another one, and if somehow they -did- make another one, there's going to be CGI mouths and it would look terrible.
