Let's be honest, the book is terrible

Yeah, I remember reading changes they made in the movie script to make the movie better than the book:

1.) Hammond (the old rich man) was more of an asshole in the book, and you get to see in greater detail what an ass he was to Dennis Nedry. In fact, there's a reason Dennis was seeking to find money elsewhere and betraying his boss; while no expense was spared on much of the island's accommodations, Hammond was cheap in the tech dept. He had Dennis working almost entirely alone on the security system as well as the main computers, and he was not being compensated at all for lack of staff. Now Nedry wasn't exactly good with his own finances, and he wasn't a good man, but even he didn't deserve to be treated like that. You think programming an entire computer system for a theme park is difficult today, imagine how much harder it was in the early 90s, and with very little help!

2.) Lex was completely useless in the book. It was the younger brother who was the computer nerd, while Lex was the cowardly sister that ran around screaming at the first sign of scary creatures, or worse, stupidly getting their attention.

Clearly you have terrible taste.

The books is amazing and has a very good pace. The only bad part from the book is the last part, which was totally ridiculous and illogical.

I remember the book being much better than the film.

What's interesting is that they used scenes from it for the two sequels such as the girl being attacked on the beach at the start of The Lost World, and the T-rex swimming upstream and chasing them in a river from the third movie.

It’s far better than the movie, which is quite thin when rewatching it with adult eyes.
